October 2020 marked the release of World of Warcraft: Shadowlands, the most recent expansion for the beloved MMORPG. The large chunk of content introduced the Shadowlands, World of Warcraft's land of the dead, for players to explore for the first time. A new leveling system was also introduced in Shadowlands, brining the game's level cap down from 120 to 60 and reducing players' levels accordingly. New raids and dungeons were also introduced within the Shadowlands, and all races were given access to the deadly Death Knight class. However, a developer recently revealed that production of World of Warcraft halted following the lawsuit against Activision Blizzard.

World of Warcraft’s Shadowlands update 9.1.5 will roll out in the game’s public test realm this week, bringing with it a raft of player-requested and suggested changes, as well as new efforts to curb toxic behavior and sanction players who don’t get the message.

These changes are separate to the ones Blizzard announced in July. Those focused on former creative director Alex Afrasiabi and have already been made. World of Warcraft’s Shadowlands Update 9.1.5 is due out soon. While the changes it makes sound great, it might be too little too late. Whether or not they’ll be enough to keep fans around for longer remains to be seen.

"Over the past few weeks since we shared an update, the WoW team has been focused on the immediate future--both for our people and workplace, and what's next for players too," the WoW team writes. "As a part of that, the entire team came together to ask: What are the biggest things we're hearing that are getting in the way of your fun, and what are the most impactful changes we could make to WoW today to fix that?"

A blog post from Blizzard Entertainment reveals that World of Warcraft's next update will be focused on player-requested updates. Shadowlands Update 9.1.5 will reportedly be brought to World of Warcraft's Public Test Realm next week, and the update will feature many quality-of-life changes. Covenant and conduit mechanics will be adjusted, making it easier to swap them and making it unnecessary for players to repeat covenant campaigns on alternate characters. More character customization options will also be included for certain races, with an official list of patch notes to be released before the update goes live.

Other fan-driven changes coming in 9.1.5 include new customizations for Draeni and Void Elves, plus new travel forms for druids and new Soulshapes for Night Fae. The preview post has an accounting of all the changes. Among them, a special event called Legion Timewalking will allow players back into Legion and Legion Mythic-plus dungeons. That event will run for two weeks beginning with the 9.1.5 content update’s full launch, and then on a regular weekly schedule later.
